PC-Engine slow-mo coding Compo 2009!!!!

Post by tomaitheous »

Rules:
- Code must have the CPU set to 1.79mhz mode.
- ROM can not be larger than 512k.
- Must be PC-Engine only (No SuperGrafx)
- No added RAM (no using the Populous ROM layout)
- Self modifying code and any other tricks are allowed

Demo or short game showing off your coding skillz for the 1.79mhz mode. 512k ROM image should provide enough space for you LUT obsessed coders out there. This is a contest to see what you can squeeze out of such a low speed CPU mode. ROM must be able to run on the real system and/or Mednafen emulator. The closing date for all entries is July 31, 2010. Post all submissions here.

Oh yeah, there's no prize for this compo other than being the proud winner ;) (Well, no prize as of yet...)

Update: We might have a prize after all. Memblers is thinking of donating one of his PCE flash card for the prize. Need to find out more details.

Wow, missed the deadline by five days. Here is my entry. Source included!

http://cgfm2.emuviews.com/temp/SloMoCompoEntry.zip

It uses a heuristic data generating algorithm to change colors and graphics in a pleasing way every time you run it.
So please sit close to your TV with the volume up as loud as possible for the maximum effect.

If you like it, feel free to encourage others to "experience" this demo.

We should do this again. Tom, are you game? :)
