Is their a big difference between 320 and 256 display?

Post by RegalSin »

I am just wondering, Why does the PCE has an option for 320 and 256 display?

Does it have something to do with collision course? or timing?

Could various televisions display the differences? Vista Vision? VGA?

The standard PCE+CDROM is limited to a Composite and RF switch. In the past seen the effects of playing a game on a smaller or bigger screen. Sometimes the playing feild becomes bigger, while other times the feild becomes smaller.

What I see no matter what game you play the veticies in a cut out is all the same.

I was thinking that we could make games that are in 320 ( meaning a bigger bitmap, and bigger sprites )
but display it in, 256?

Maybe it is the horizontle and verticle modes, you are talking about, otherwise that is my idea.

The bigger display size can also be used for panning, since the PCE was built for video purposes.
