Here are some short and nice videos about compression. I'm not posting all the links. There's also a neat video about utf-8. The computerphile and numberphile channels looks cool.
For example they have videos with the almighty John Conway (Does John Conway hate his Game of Life?).

Here's the first line of the abstract.
A kemal program written in 6502 assembly language that allows as many as six different assembly language programs to run concurrently on a single small microcomputer is described.

Recently I had to fight against PID controlers :)
